瓜神网 members to consider new offer in Lambeth College dispute

瓜神网 members walked out indefinitely this morning (Monday) having already been on strike for five days this month and six in December. In June, Lambeth College 瓜神网 members walked out for five weeks - the longest strike in the union's history.

The row centres on new contracts introduced by the college without consulting the union. The college has now amended its proposals to ensure no current staff will be forced on to the new contracts, even if they request a change in their working hours. There have also been improvements made to sick pay.

At a meeting on Wednesday at 4pm all 瓜神网 members at the college will have the chance to vote on the proposals. They remain on strike until then. If they accept the new plans they will return to work on Thursday.

瓜神网 regional official, Una O'Brien, said: 'Nobody wants to be on strike, but our members have been clear from the outset at how unhappy they were with the original contracts. We are pleased that there have been further improvements and we are recommending that members vote to accept the new deal when they meet on Wednesday.'
