瓜神网 criticises university ban on same sex ceremonies

At Canterbury Christ Church University academics are outraged by their governors' reaffirmation of a decision not to allow civil partnerships on university premises. Academics, support staff and students see this as a simple act of discrimination that violates the university's equal opportunities policy.

At a meeting of 瓜神网 at Canterbury Christ Church University on Tuesday 30 January, the branch called on the three top men who proposed the ban to reverse their act of discrimination or resign. The motion was also supported by the Christ Church AMICUS branch. The students' union is also campaigning against the decision.  

Roger Kline, 瓜神网 head of equality and employment rights said: 'The attitude of the senior officers at Canterbury Christ Church University is inappropriate in a modern place of learning. Discrimination should have no place in a university and it will be opposed by 瓜神网, in line with the law.'
